To fall down the rabbit hole means to get interested in something to the point of distraction, usually by accident, and resulting in a grand adventure.

Tuesday, August 22

We are getting married in a small ceremony in our backyard with just our children, parents, and siblings. However, after the ceremony we are going to Gracie's Bar and Restaurant to celebrate and anyone is invited to join! Let's make this the best Tuesday Night Bluegrass Jam that Gracie's has seen yet! Bring your instruments and join in or just enjoy eating, drinking, and listening...like a pre-party for the weekend.

Friday, August 25th.

We are canceling the hike because it doesn't seem like anyone will be joining us, and we're going to have to arrange a few things in Salt Lake before we head up. However, you are welcome to set up your camp anywhere at the Old Church Campground whether we are there or not. Friday is a more casual day and you are in charge of your own food and entertainment. There will be jamming well into the wee hours of the morning.

Saturday, August 26th

Join us at Rockport Reservoir for paddleboarding, kayaking, etc.  We've reserved pavilion number: HLND1 from 8am to 10pm.  You are welcome to use it whether we are there or not. You will need to pay for your own parking or carpool up from the campsite. Dinner will be served at the Old Church Campground at 6, we'll say a few words and present the prizes for the campsite decorating contest (the prizes are preeeeeeetty great so do your best), and finish the night with more jamming inside the white church.

DINNER:We'll be providing pulled pork, amazing BBQ sauce, drinks, and desert. We'll also provide a vegetarian option. Please bring a cold salad (pasta, leafy greens, or fruit) to share. Please bring your own plates, utensils, and cups. We'll provide a washing station. We are very conscientious about waste and particularly uncomfortable using paper and plastic while we are out in nature! It seems like all brides and grooms are allowed their demanding diva moments and I guess this is ours. Thank you for your efforts to join us in conservation and keeping our state beautiful.

FAQ's

What should I do for food?

We'll be providing dinner on Saturday evening.  The rest of your meals are up to you!

What should I wear?

Matt and I will be wearing our wedding attire on Saturday evening.  If it tickles your fancy to dress up with us go for it!  Just because we've been camping and swimming in a lake doesn't mean we can't dress fancy! But also, wear whatever makes you happy and comfortable.

Is there water/electricity/bathrooms?

There is limited electricity on the exterior of the old church and at the pavilion but please don't rely on it for more than emergency or quick use.  There is a potable water spigot outside and pit toilets.

What other activities are there?

The campground is lovely with a large pavilion, an open field with plenty of shade along the edges, and a river where the dam lets out.  Rockport Reservoir is right above where we are camping.  Bring kites, fishing poles, frisbees, croquet, board games, paddle boards, kayaks, instruments, hammocks, slack lines...all the things!

Are the campsites assigned?

It's basically a huge open space with a church and a pavilion in the middle.  We will designate a "quiet" side and a "music jamming" side and it's up to you to pick your exact spot.

Can I bring trailers/RVs?

Yes but there no hookups.

Are pets allowed?

Yes

A Note on Gifts

What we really want the most for our wedding celebration is to be surrounded by our friends for two days. However, if it feels celebratory for you to give us a gift, we are saving up to buy a teardrop camper so our adventures can be less taxing on our old backs and Venmo gifts would be much appreciated.
